COMMUNITY & US

Social Work Department

As students are made aware and sensitive to world issues, they inculcate a sense of responsibility towards the society and their immediate community. Bluebells encourages them to think beyond the narrow confines and reach out to connect compassionately with all.

Recycling Unit

The school has established its own Recycling Unit in its premises. Reprocessing of waste paper for reuse takes place in this unit. Waste paper is collected in the paper recycle bins located in all the corridors and is then sent to paper recycling unit. At an average of fifty A3 size sheets are produced daily. The recycling unit has been able to produce paper for invitation cards, letter heads, writing pads and envelops for in-house use. Report cards are also given on the recycled paper made by the unit.

Ankuran

Our outreach program for children of the community, in a joint project with the NGO Save The Children, Delhi Chapter, enrolls children belonging to migrant families living in the slum of Zamrudpur and around Kalkaji temple. Students at Bluebells and the project staff have worked robustly with the Resident Welfare Association, Market Associations and the police to make the neighbourhood a Child Labour Free Zone. This partnership has resulted in mainstreaming students in private and government schools.

Synergy

Our Learning Centre – SYNERGY offers guidance and support to students with special needs. A team comprising of a social worker, psychologist and counsellor work towards full inclusion by providing developmentally appropriate programmes via Individual Education Plan.

Collection Drives

The Student Council organizes collection drives on a regular basis and in times of crisis such as floods, earthquakes, etc. Donation boxes are placed around the campus for the students and are given to NGOs by the end of the week. Relief Fund is also collected through festivals organized by the Council.

Kilkariyan

Kilkariyan is a program conceived and implemented by students where a plethora of activities  are organized for neighbourhood children. The children were given classes in craft, sports, theatre and painting.

PROGRAMMES

Access English Learning Programme

The Access English Learning Programme, in association with the American Centre, enrolled students from the economically weaker section with minimal knowledge of English, helping them develop language skills in English. Young boys and girls from the neighbourhood are trained to possess communication skills in English in the sessions conducted after school.

School Entrepreneurship Programme

The School Entrepreneurship Programme, in collaboration with the organization 'Teach A Man To Fish', is an initiative of the Commerce Faculty. A group of commerce students have been specially trained to undertake the production of paper, marketing and sale of the recycled paper made  at school. Profits from the sale are contributed to Ankuran. After a year of hard work, the school has been acclaimed for its Outstanding Performance by the British Council for the conception and implementation of a Social Entrepreneur Business Plan. Students continue to take their Entrepreneurship Initiative forward and market products made from recycled paper at school. Profits from the sale are contributed to Ankuran.

Each One Teach One

The Each One Teach One Program - an after school remedial education program - brings about a greater degree of social and academic competence in children of low-income families and weak students from MCD schools. So far, 110 learners have been made literate.

Teach India Programme

The programme, in partnership with Times of India, was intended to improve the spoken English competency and build confidence of the school support staff. In the programme, student volunteers deliver the curriculum to the target learners (school non-teaching staff) in the school premises. Prior to delivering the same, these student volunteers undergo a mandatory 7-day training module conducted by trainers from the British Council.
